Course Description
When it comes to small animal ultrasonography are you baffled by the buttons? Do you battle with B-mode, struggle with spleens or sicken at the prospect of scanning a stomach?
Then this one-day course for veterinary surgeons is here to help you.
Via a blend of lectures, demonstrations and practical sessions you will gain the fundamental knowledge to improve your abdominal ultrasonography skills or get started if you don’t know where to begin.
With an emphasis on hands-on time with the ultrasound machine, this course covers basic ultrasound physics and image optimisation, indications for abdominal ultrasound examination, and a logical approach to ultrasonography of the main organs within the abdomen, including; liver and gall bladder, spleen, kidneys, urinary bladder and GI tract. Our supportive practical environment will allow you to put these newly learnt skills into practice.
Course Objectives
Equipment and Facilities
IMV imaging will provide all the necessary ultrasound equipment.
**Please note that because of the difficulty providing animals for scanning, delegates are kindly requested to bring a friendly dog with them for the duration of the day. It is important that the dogs can be clipped as appropriate for a complete abdominal ultrasound exam.**
Schedule
The day will be informal and relaxed with maximum time for hands-on learning. Arrive for tea and coffee from 8:30am, ready to begin the lecture at 9am. We’ll aim to finish the day by 4.30pm.
